But a lovely, fancy, French restaurant for Mother’s Day with my favorite people in the world, minus one, get me rethinking what I like. Soft-shell crab, lamb, and souffle- much, much better than a silly buffet. Add shouffle to the “yes” desserts, but only at this most special place. 129/365
Sun, lemon, and flowers on sweet little bowls. I love Friday! 78/365
Lovely friends took us to an amazing Italian place in the Ravenswood neighborhood of Chicago last night. Great atmosphere- cozy, painting of the last supper on the wall, opera streaming from the overhead speakers- totally cool and not even really trying to be. I love places like this. Great service too- but the food! Seriously- I’ve yet to travel to Italy, but I imagine the food would taste like this. They had me at bruschetta- and all the way through the gnocchi , lobster ravioli, penne with sausage, to the tiramisu. On the way out, we chatted with some sweet folks at the next table who just had a bubbling hot plate of lasagna delivered to their table. I’ll be ordering that next time. I pretty sure I dreamed about it last night, or was that the mushroom cream sauce? 72/365
I just watched a funny video about Jewish food, is it a coincidence that at the same time- the beginnings of matzo ball soup was cooking in my kitchen? If you’ve never had it- you’re missing out (in my humble opinion), and btw- it really is the “gateway drug” to Jewish food. 70/365
A lovely little lunch with good friends today at once of our favorite places on the North Shore. Absolutely delicious!
It was a busy Saturday- flea market finds with a friend and then off to photograph my favorite HS senior and his friends before formal. So after that whole pre-formal photo shoot~ we had to head off to get some Sushi- and miso. Hope you all had a great weekend!
With an egg wash. Let’s just say they were a hit. I paired these with fried chicken- which I made for the first time EVER! Seriously, EVER! (I grew up on pot roast and potatoes- Irish roots) I was unable to document the fried chicken because my family ate the chicken almost before it was on the table. Next time. I guarantee there will be a next time:) 62/365
Having a musician in the house is great! We have three. Piano, check. Guitar, yes! Drums- you bet! Sometimes it’s a little loud- as my neighbors will tell you- or me as they pass by- wondering when we’ll upgrade to more soundproofing! I love it (most days). Getting ready for a performance is always louder than usual (it’s an 11), but the energy is always good. 28/365
